One little birdie sitting in the tree … p.l.a.y.i.n.g! And where better to play than this adorable milk jug birdhouse. So, spread your creative wings, and let’s get crafting.
Rinse jug and remove label with warm, soapy water. Allow to dry completely.
Using the craft knife, cut a small circular opening approximately 2 1/2 inches in diameter on a flat side of the jug.
Tip: Be sure the handle is facing to the back.
Use the craft knife to poke a hole underneath the circle for the perch.
Using scissors, cut the tissue paper into small- to medium-sized pieces
Use decoupage glue to apply the tissue paper pieces to the outside of the milk jug. Repeat this step twice. Allow to dry completely.
Attach the twigs to the top of the jug using a glue gun to create the roof.
Attach the stones around the outside of the circular doorway using a glue gun.
Carefully push a longer twig into the hole just under the doorway to create a perch, and glue in place using a glue gun.
Tip: Make the hole bigger using your craft knife, if necessary.
Wrap the twine around the spout of your milk jug, gluing with a glue gun as you go. Leave enough length after wrapping the twine around the spout to create a handle.
Using scissors, cut shapes out of moss. Attach the moss shapes onto the birdhouse using a glue gun to add outdoor flare.
Hang the birdhouse in a tree using the twine handle.
Diva’s Tip
Not in the mood to decoupage? Simply spraypaint the outside of your milk jug instead. Let the paint dry completely before assembling the rest.
