Ingredients

Rolls

  • 1 tablespoon warm water
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar plus 1 teaspoon
  • 1 packet (2¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup Hiland Dairy whole milk, warm
  • 7 tablespoons Hiland Dairy butter, melted (6 for dough, 1 for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 3 ½ cups bread flour

Cinnamon Honey Butter

  • 1 stick (½ cup) Hiland Dairy butter, softened
  • 4 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

Rolls

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the 1 teaspoon of sugar, warm water and yeast packet. Mix together with a spatula and let sit for about 5 minutes.
  • To the stand mixer bowl, add the rest of the sugar, milk, 6 Tablespoons butter and salt. With the paddle attachment, mix on low speed until just combined. Add the egg, mix again.
  • Add the bread flour, one cup at a time, mixing after each addition until combined. Scrape down the bowl. Then mix on medium speed for 3-4 minutes.
  • Switch to the paddle hook for bread dough and mix again for 3 minutes.
  • Spray a large bowl with nonstick cooking spray. Transfer the dough to the bowl and cover lightly with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Place in a warm place and let rise for 2 hours until the dough has doubled in size.
  • Uncover dough and use your hand to gently punch down the dough. Remove dough from bowl and cut in half. Then in half again and again until you have 12 portions of dough. Roll balls to smooth out tops.
  • Spray a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick baking spray and place the balls of dough into the baking dish, evenly spaced.
  • Cover the rolls again and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Bake rolls for 12-15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown. Remove from the oven and brush the tops with the remaining Tablespoon of butter. Serve warm with the Cinnamon Honey Butter.
