Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Hiland Unsalted Butter
- 2 medium yellow onions, sliced thinly into half circles
- Kosher salt to taste
- 1 cup Hiland Small Curd Cottage Cheese
- ½ cup Hiland Sour Cream
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
Directions
- Caramelize the onions. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of kosher salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions become soft and develop a deep golden-brown color, about 30-40 minutes. Adjust the heat as needed to avoid burning. Allow the onions to cool slightly.
- In a food processor, blend the cottage cheese, sour cream, garlic and onion powders, and Worcestershire sauce until mostly smooth. Add the caramelized onions and pulse a few times, just enough to break them into small, evenly distributed pieces.
- Fold in the chopped chives and season with salt to taste.
- Serve with your choice of dippers, such as fresh vegetable sticks, crackers or chips.
