Hiland Dairy Introduces Electric Hostlers to Reduce Emissions and Enhance Efficiency at Oklahoma Facilities

Springfield, MO – February 13, 2025 – Hiland Dairy is driving into the future with the addition of two fully electric terminal tractors from Orange EV at its Chandler and Norman, Oklahoma, locations. This initiative, made possible through funding from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) via the VW Trust grant program, underscores Hiland Dairy’s commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.

Electric hostlers, also known as electric yard trucks or terminal tractors, represent a significant advancement in transportation electrification. These trucks offer numerous benefits, including reduced fuel consumption, lower maintenance costs, and a safer, cleaner work environment for drivers. Unlike traditional diesel-powered yard trucks, electric hostlers produce zero emissions, significantly improving air quality and supporting Hiland’s ongoing efforts to operate responsibly.
