FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Springfield, MO—February 13, 2025—Hiland Dairy is driving into the future by adding a fully electric terminal tractor hostler at its Fort Smith, Arkansas, facility, enhancing its commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency. This initiative was made possible through grant funding from the Arkansas Energy & Environment Division’s Go Red! (Reduce Emissions from Diesel), reinforces Hiland’s dedication to lowering carbon emissions and improving workplace conditions.
Electric hostlers—also known as electric yard trucks—replace traditional diesel-powered tractors, offering substantial benefits such as lower maintenance costs, reduced fuel consumption, and a healthier work environment for drivers. By transitioning to electric hostlers, Hiland Dairy is taking another step toward a cleaner future, supporting the company’s environmental goals and the broader movement toward transportation electrification.
“This investment in electric hostlers is another example of how Hiland Dairy is embracing sustainability while maintaining the highest standards in dairy production and logistics,” said Adam Brown, Director of Distribution at Hiland Dairy. “We appreciate the support of Arkansas Go Red! in helping us make this transition, which will have long- lasting benefits for our employees and our community.”
Hiland Dairy remains committed to innovating and promoting environmental stewardship, ensuring that the company continues providing high-quality dairy products while minimizing its carbon footprint.
