Hiland Dairy’s Omaha plant has a fascinating history. The dairy was founded in 1906 when a farmer named J.R. Roberts started home delivery of milk from his herd of 60 dairy cows. In 1911, his operation became an incorporated company, Roberts Dairy. In 1929, the current plant in Omaha began processing dairy foods, and in 2013, Hiland Dairy acquired Roberts Dairy.

- At the end of the school year, milk is donated to the Open Door Mission so kids can continue to have healthy milk after the school year is finished
- In Iowa, Hiland supports the Drake Relays
