With summer right around the corner, there’s no better time to write a list of must-do activities to keep the kiddos busy. Try to think outside the norm. Your kids might think some are hits and others are misses, but at least you’re exposing them to new things.
Here are some wacky ideas to toss on your list:
On the last day of school, fill a box with water balloons and put it outside of your front door. Attach a sign that says “Say goodbye to school and hello to summer. Enjoy the water balloon fight!” When your kids come home, it will be a fun surprise to kick off the dog days of summer.
Scout out your local park trails, dust off those bikes, grease those chains and get ready for some family biking. It’s a great way to get exercise as a family. Have your kids rate the trails to find out your family’s favorite.
Every month, have a family cook-off. Let your kiddos practice creating culinary staples including club sandwiches, chef’s salads, delicious dipping sauces or homemade macaroni and cheese (Tip: Ditch the boxed types and play around with a variety of Hiland Dairy Cheeses instead!). Then, let the culinary competitions begin!
Diva’s Tip
It doesn’t matter what summer activities you choose as long as you remember to enjoy the time together. Your children will be grown and on their own in what seems like a blink of an eye!
