Summer Crafts: DIY Pencil Holder

School is out! If you’re looking for a fun way to keep your kiddos busy, try this fun DIY pencil holder. It makes a thoughtful gift and helps keep things organized at home. It could even be a late Father’s Day gift! Grab some crafting supplies and make something that is handy, useful and comes from the heart. It’s simple to assemble and a perfect craft for the kids.

Supplies:

  • 2 quart-size Hiland Dairy Milk cartons
  • Acrylic paints, four colors
  • Painters markers, various colors
  • Sponge paintbrushes
  • 2-3 (16-count) pencil boxes
  • Glue gun
  • Glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • Traceable tie cut out

Directions:

Using warm, soapy water, clean the Hiland Dairy Milk cartons. Let dry completely.

Cut the top of one of the cartons. Set aside. Cut the top and bottom off the second milk carton.

Using the carton with only the top removed, hot glue the pencils side-by-side to the outside placing them around all four sides.

Cut four rectangle pieces from the other carton. Trace the tie cut out on each piece and cut out four ties.

Paint each tie a different color. Let dry completely.

Paint designs on each tie. Let dry completely.

Glue one tie onto each side of the pencil holder.
