Stack It And Pack It!

How To Properly Organize Your Refrigerator

Who knew? I just found out that I’ve been organizing my refrigerator the wrong way, which may be why my food seems to spoil so quickly after I buy it. There’s even a certain dairy product that should have its own drawer! So, I’d like to share a few tips on how to arrange your fridge to maximize the freshness of your food:

Upper Shelves

The temperature is a bit warmer on the upper shelves, so this area is the best place to store things like leftovers, Hiland Dairy Yogurt and drinks.

Lower Shelves

Because of the colder temperature on the lower shelves, this area is best for food items like meats, fish, Hiland Dairy Milk and eggs to keep them as cold as possible.

Low-Humidity Drawer

Fruits and vegetables that tend to rot easily should be stored in this drawer.

High-Humidity Drawer

If it can wilt, it goes in this drawer. Toss in your leafy greens because the water in these veggies helps them keep their shape.

Door

This is the warmest part of your fridge, so place your condiments here…and remember, the fridge door is NOT the place to keep your milk!

Diva’s Tip

Cheeses tend to absorb food flavors easily, so delectable dairy products like Hiland Dairy Shredded and Block Cheeses should have their own drawer. Happy organizing!
