Here in the Hiland kitchen, June may be our favorite month of the year…kids are on summer vacation, there’s nothing like an ice cream sundae on a 90 degree day, and coincidentally, both National Dairy Month and World Milk Day are in June!
That means there’s a lot to celebrate.
Dairy has been with us a long time, with evidence of dairy farming going back more than 6,000 years in Ireland. That’s about the same time we humans began to domesticate cats in China (another startling achievement).
So let’s raise a glass to those early, intrepid dairy farmers. Without them, who knows what would have happened.
With nine essential nutrients—including protein, calcium, potassium and vitamin D—milk is one of the most powerful, nutrient-rich foods in our diet. So, is it any wonder that it has its very own worldwide day of celebration?
Here in the United States, the Milk Life organization has taken the lead in helping close the nutrition gap that many families encounter by organizing the Great American Milk Drive.
Hiland Dairy is proud to take part in the Great American Milk Drive, and we urge everyone to remember that many of those who utilize food pantries are our friends, families and neighbors. So if you are able and willing, please support these pantries and the Great American Milk Drive.
With all of June in front of us, we’re going to work extra hard to bring you even more of the tips, tricks, recipes and lifehacks you expect from The Hiland Home. So keep your eyes peeled for what’s coming up, and remember to share TheHilandHome.com with your friends, neighbors, acquaintances, strangers…basically everyone you see.
Thanks for being a loyal Hiland Home visitor!
Thank you for signing up!
