September is Hunger Action Month.

Today kicks off September Hunger Action Month™ – Feeding America’s nationwide campaign that unites communities to take action against the issue of hunger and helps raise awareness to support the more than 49 million Americans who struggle with food insecurity.

This Hunger Action Month, The Great American Milk Drive is focused on helping fight hunger by providing milk to families in need, since milk is one of the most-requested items at Feeding America food banks. In just under 18 months, the dairy industry has generated more than 400,000 gallons – that’s more than 6.3 million servings – of milk to families in need, but there is much more work to be done.

You can see the impact of The Great American Milk Drive here, including total gallons of milk donated in your state, as well as nationwide. You’ll also see how many people are served by food banks in your area.

Help make an impact at the River Valley Food Bank!

We have partnered with the River Valley Food Bank, Feeding America and CV’s Savers Club for a special Great American Milk Drive this month. More than 500,000 individuals in Arkansas – including more than 1 in every 4 children – are food insecure and may be missing out on milk’s 9 essential nutrients, including high-quality protein. Just donate $1, $3 or $5 at your local CV’s Savers Club now through September 26, to help provide milk to families in Arkansas.

If you are not from the Arkansas area, but want to make a difference during Hunger Action Month – we’ve got great news for you. You can easily make an online donation to this great cause! Your donation will help households in your area, so you can rest assured your efforts will have local impact.

For every share of this Great American Milk Drive image on social media in September, a one-gallon donation will be made to one of the 200 food banks served by Feeding America. The Great American Milk Drive will donate one voucher redeemable for up to one gallon of milk (retail value $4.50) for each share of The Great American Milk Drive “Strength In Numbers” image tagged with #MilkDrive via social media between September 1 – September 30, 2015 (up to a maximum total donation of $5,000). Talk about an easy way to help those in need!
