French Onion Chicken
This recipe takes the very best part of French Onion soup and transforms it into a chicken dish that will blow your mind.
- 1 Yellow Onion sliced
- 1 tbsp Hiland Dairy Butter
- 6 Chicken Breasts
- 1/4 tsp Paprika
- 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 can (10.5oz) French Onion Soup
- 1/2 cup Hiland Dairy French Onion Dip
- 1/2 cup Mozzarella Cheese (or more!)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a cast-iron pan or a large skillet on medium heat, melt the Hiland Butter and add the sliced onions. Cook the onions until they are soft, about 8-10 minutes. Once cooked, remove from the pan onto a plate and set aside.
Season the chicken breasts with paprika and garlic powder. In the same skillet, spray nonstick spray and then place the chicken breasts into the pan. Cook on each side for about 3-4 minutes until cooked through.
Add the onions back into the pan with the chicken. Then add the French Onion Soup and the Hiland French Onion Dip into the pan. Stir all together and cook for about 5-7 minutes more.
If using a skillet (non-oven safe) then transfer chicken and sauce to a baking dish. If using a cast-iron pan, you can leave the chicken and sauce in that pan.
Cover the chicken mixture with mozzarella cheese and then place in the oven. Cook for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let sit for about 5 minutes before serving.
