DIY Thanksgiving Decor: Milk Jug Turkey

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and with the menus to plan and feasts to organize, it’s easy for the decorative details to slip through your prep steps. Here’s an adorable DIY turkey made from a repurposed Hiland Dairy milk jug using supplies you might already have on hand. Happy Thanksgiving!

Materials

• 1 Gallon Hiland Dairy milk jug
• Brown, white, and black spray paint
• Red and yellow construction paper
• Scissors or crafting knife
• Googly eyes
• Hot glue gun
• Glue sticks
• Assorted feathers

Instructions

• Wash the milk jug with warm soapy water. Towel dry. (Tip: To easily remove the glued labels, fill the milk jug with hot water and let sit for five minutes. The labels will pull right off.)
• Cut off the spout of the milk jug.

• In a well-ventilated area, spray paint the outside of the milk jug. Let dry completely. (Tip: Paint your bird a solid brown or get creative by using various colors.)
• In the meantime, cut out a beak, wattle, and feet from the construction paper.

• Using a hot glue gun, adhere the eyes, beak, wattle, feet and all the feathers.

• Be sure to glue feathers inside the spout opening and the back of the jug to create the plume, and glue feathers to sides to create wings.

Diva’s Tip

If you don’t have real feathers simply cut out feathers from construction paper.
