Ice cream floats have been around since the 50s and quickly became an American classic. They are also a summertime staple because of how easy they are to make and how delicious they are to drink! The original recipe calls for soda to be poured into a glass and then add a scoop of ice cream so it “floats” at the top. My family loves ice cream so I add scoops of ice cream to the glass first and then pour soda over the top. Here are a few of my favorite ice cream float recipes!
Orange Creamsicle Float:
Add three scoops of Hiland Dairy Vanilla Ice Cream to a fountain glass. Pour orange soda to the top of the glass. Garnish with an orange slice.
Root Beer Float:
Add three scoops of Hiland Dairy Vanilla Ice Cream to a fountain glass. Pour root beer soda to the top of the glass. Top with Hiland Dairy Whipping Cream.
Ginger Ale Lemonade Float:
Add three scoops of Hiland Dairy Vanilla Ice Cream to a fountain glass. Pour ginger ale with lemonade soda to the top of the glass. Top with Hiland Dairy Whipped Cream and pieces of lemon sandwich cookies.
Dr. Pepper Float:
Living in Waco, I’ve learned two very important things; 1) Dr. Pepper was invited in Waco and is a local favorite, and 2) Dr. Pepper does not have a period after Dr. Who knew? Add three scoops of Hiland Dairy Vanilla Ice Cream to a fountain glass. Pour Dr. Pepper to the top of the glass. You can either top with Hiland Dairy Whipped Cream, or mix the ice cream scoops into the Dr. Pepper until smooth and creamy.
