Even though my family doesn’t see eye-to-eye on pizza toppings, I always use Hiland Dairy Cheese when I make homemade pizza. I know the cheese is made with pure and fresh Hiland Dairy Milk, so I know it’s good. If you’ve never done it before, I recommend you try making a pizza pie from scratch. Bake it. Slice it. Eat it. Your taste buds will thank you!

Pizza Toppings
In a medium bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until foamy, about 10 minutes.
Combine yeast mixture, flour, salt, garlic salt and oil with a mixer. Beat until smooth.
Turn dough out on a clean, lightly floured surface and knead until the dough is no longer sticky.
Place the dough in a well-oiled bowl, flipping the dough to cover with oil on both sides.
Cover with a cloth and let rise for 1 hour. While dough is rising, combine tomato sauce and Italian seasoning in a small saucepan. Simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
Remove sauce from heat and let cool.
Preheat oven to 450°F. Transfer dough to a pizza stone or lightly greased pizza pan and roll it out using your fingers.
Spread with pizza sauce, cheese and additional desired toppings.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Mangia! Mangia!
Divide the dough into smaller pieces and let the kids make their own pies. Also, I’ve used a combination of Hiland Dairy Mozzarella, Italian Blend and Cheddar Cheese to give the pizza extra flavor.
